Are we to take the blame
For what we have become
Can we for just a moment
Point fingers to someone else?

I walk a mile in my shoes
Along the road that was laid
So long ago by other men
Who chose this way to go

Are we the consequence
Of what others have made
Are we the final result
Of what has come before us?

I am the one to blame
For what I have become
For where I am this moment
Is where my feet have led

Pushing off the inevitable
For monetary solace
Shallow response made
of our own desires

We are the consequence
Of the choices we’ve made
We are the end result
Of the path that’s been laid
