Lose Control

Waves crash against my sand castle walls
Wind blows across my fragile house of cards
What I have created has left me undone
Yet, Your mercy has met me here

I am ready to lose control
I’ve been wearied by these storms
I’ve been battered by these trials
I am tired of fighting this myself
I’m giving it all to you

The mirror shatters this image I have made
The light reveals the truth I’ve ignored
What I have seen has made me blind
Yet, Your faithfulness keeps me here

I’m ready to lose control
I’ve been battered by these trials
I’ve been wearied by these storms
I am tired of fighting this myself
I’m giving it all to you

I’ve traveled down the valley of shadows
I’ve slept on the doorsteps of despair
I’ve waded through the tears of sorrow
And Your grace has found me here

Faithful

You remain faithful
when the sun doesn’t shine
In the darkest of nights
You remain faithful to me

You remain faithful
When the sun shines
In the brightest of days
You remain faithful

You remain faithful
When pain doesn’t fade
In the hardest of days
You remain faithful to me

You remain faithful
When the pain’s gone away
And my heart’s filled with joy
You  remain faithful

You remain faithful
When the rains come
And the violent storms rage
You remain faithful to me

You remain faithful
The storm will soon pass
And the waves will stand silent
You remain faithful

When the sun shines
And the storms rage
When the wind blows
And I need you there
You remain faithful to me

Burning Inside

I don’t want to see a pillar of fire
from a distance, far away

I don’t want to see a blaze from the sky
Consuming everything around me

I don’t want to see a burning bush
Ignite, only to fade away

Burn inside of me
Fueled by your holiness
Ignited with a holy passion
Let me be a sacrifice
Consuming every part of me
Set me on fire tonight

I don’t want to see your glory
From a distance, far away

I don’t want to see your wonders
Consuming everything around me

I don’t want to see a passion
Ignite, only to fade away

Burn inside of me
Fuel me with  your holiness
Ignite me  with a holy passion
Let me be a sacrifice
Consuming every part of me
Set me on fire tonight

Men on FIre

One was burning with rage.  Bitterness was the fuel to fan his flame.  Nothing could put it out.  His one desire was revenge.  The sins of others made him a single minded man on a mission of blood and death.  He saw this is the only way of redemption for the sins of others.  Hatred burned in his heart for the others who caused such pain.  There was no stopping until the wrong had been avenged.

Revenge never was sweet.  Revenge never sees redemption.

One was burning with love.  Compassion was the fuel to His fire.  His desire was redemption for all who needed life beyond death.  It would be His blood sacrificed in death.   He burned as a sacrifice in place of those who should have been in his place.  He would take revenge on no one, instead becoming our Salvation.

Love covered our sin.  Compassion breeds Redemption.

One was burning with passion.   He was changed by the redemption of the One.  He was covered in the blood of the lamb, no longer ruled by death, because of the redemption of the One.   Humility and redemption fuels the flame of passion. Impacting any around who will catch the fire.  He is an extension of the One who covered his sins.  And now he holds the fire out for all to see.

Love brings Passion.  Redemption sets us on fire.

Pride

Pride comes before a fall, yet we elevate you above them all!
Pride is no longer considered a sin, but now a way to win again!
(Congratulations! Pride is the new virtue!)

The arrogant, the prideful, and haughty have found a new trend.
Just become a know-it-all, and make the right friends!
(Don’t mind if they only use you.)

Don’t bother them with love, faith, service, humility, justice, or truth.
Just give them their five easy ways to get ahead of the rest of you!
(Sell your soul!  Half off at Borders!)

There is no room for failures here so don’t ask any questions dear.
Just show no signs of weakness, or fear, alas pride is the winner again!
(God Forbid,  I step aside!)

Give me position, I have pride, just don’t ask me what’s inside!
Weakness me? Weakness no! I am holier than the average joe!
(Please don’t notice the chink in my armor)

I call it ambition, getting ahead. How else can I lead instead?
Lead by serving?  Get a head by helping? Ha! You must be joking!
(Stepping on heads is the only way to succeed!)

Forgiveness please step aside, Humility just go run and hide.
Pride is leadership in this new day; must be perfect in every way.
(Good news, servant hearts no longer required!)

So wait the hurting and the lonely, and the not quite right.
So there sits the humble servant/leader who is never in sight.
(He’s too busy washing feet to be noticed)

They just get in the way of ambition, they’re roadblocks to position.
They don’t have title, position, or fame. They’ll never give me a name.
(Their mistake is they followed The Way.)

“Attention, Ladies and gentlemen, we think Jesus has left the building!
Everything’s fine. So please continue the way you have been pretending!”
(Too bad they never saw Him leave.)
